Here are the game times for this weekend.

Friday: Depart at 3:15 Game time: 6 pm

Saturday: 3rd place game: 9 am     Championship game: 11 am

We are staying at the same hotel that we stayed at in Gretna when we played in the Hargrave tournament. Please be sure to thank Barry for getting the hotel setup. Feel free to email him for any hotel details.

If parents could team up to get some snacks for the players to have before the game on Saturday that would be awesome. We would only need some bananas and light protein bars or granola bars.

Todays Varsity Soccer game has been postponed until tomorrow, Tuesday October 24th, at 5:30.  There will be indoor practice today.

The games today are at Vineyard Park in Roanoke.  The park address is Vineyard Drive, but this is an address that will take you right to the field entrance, it is better than the County info that they have online.

I hope you all are well. Please let me know if anyone needs a ride to the game tomorrow in Roanoke. I'm sure you have already been sorting rides out with other parents, but let me know if I can help you find a ride for your son.

Transition Players

I would like to ask that all of the transition players play in both games tomorrow. If there is any conflict please let me know. Due to injuries on the varsity team, I will be discussing a couple of different options with the coaches about how much playing time some of the transition players will get in each game. Some will get more playing time than usual in the varsity game and may or may not result in less playing time for JV. I do not want to take away any player's JV time, but unfortunately we are short(er) on numbers this week. Thank you for all you have done thus far, and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Next Monday, September 11th, we will be taking team pictures for all Middle School 7th/8th, JV and Varsity Teams during practice.  Please make sure your athlete has their BLUE uniform with them on Monday.

All games scheduled for next Friday will be Parent Transport as all buses are being used for the Middle School Retreat. This effects Varsity Cross Country and Varsity and JV Soccer.  Varsity Cross Country is at Temple and Varsity and JV Soccer will play RVCS at Hollins Park. Directions can be found on the athletic website (www.newcovenantathletics.org).

Hello all,

I am proud of the performance the boys had this weekend. They played well and I hope everyone had a great time. I know I did. Thanks to you all for the support you showed us this weekend. Both teams we played were very skilled teams. The game on Saturday was played against a very, very good team and our defense did a great job holding them to four goals. We haven't learned everything needed to know for a defense to operate as a unit and yet as the game went on our defense continued to battle and to adjust to this very skilled offense. We easily could have shut down as a team but we continued to battle, despite the lack of character from the other team. I am very proud of our boys.

We play North Cross today and the home schoolers this Friday and I look forward to seeing how we match up against them.

All players are to be ready asap after school tomorrow.

Transition Players
All transition players will practice with varsity and play in the varsity games this week, if possible.

Hello All,

The team will be eating at an Italian restaurant across from the hotel on Friday night at 7 o'clock. We have reserved a table for the team but not for any family. You are more than welcome to eat at the same place.   It is called Mama Rosa.

Saturday between games we will pick up subway. I need to know what each player wants from subway. Please send me an email or text with what they want from subway or have them hand me a note with their order on it. I need this by the end of practice tomorrow. Also make sure that kids have their money with them this weekend to pay for it. After the second game Saturday we will stop in tight squeeze for whatever they want in that small area.

Those who will take their son directly from the game please make sure to let me know before leaving on Saturday.

Lastly, Chipotle fundraiser today between 4 and 8. Come support the team and enjoy a healthy meal for dinner. The team will be meeting there at 5 and I will be getting there at 5:30 if you want a chance to talk.
