Varsity Letter
VARSITY LETTERS: Each athletic season, we will award letters to deserving varsity athletes. Please note the following items regarding the policy for earning a varsity letter: 1. The varsity coach must recommend the athlete for a letter. Athletes are expected to uphold team values and demonstrate the mission of school. Commitment to the program as well as commendable conduct and character are expected of every varsity letter winner. 2. To earn a varsity letter, the athlete must meet participation and attendance criteria set by the athletic department. Team sport athletes must attend all games and participate at least 50% of games to earn a letter. For example, a basketball player would need to play in at least 12 of 24 scheduled games to earn a letter. Sports such as cross-county, tennis, swimming, track or golf require the athlete to compete in at least 70% of the meets/matches to earn a letter. For example, a golfer would need to participate in 7 matches out of 10 scheduled to e

Sports Eligibilty
As members of VISAA, athletes are required to have a physical every year. All 7th-12th grade athletes are required to have a physical examination form dated after May 1 of the previous school year. This physical is good through June 30th of the current school year. All 5th and 6th grade athletes will be required to have a physical every other year. If your athlete participated in a sport during 5th grade, they will not need a new physical until the summer before 7th grade

Bailey Foster Commits to Grove City College
Girls Varsity BasketballAt 10:00 am Friday, June 12th, Bailey Foster signed her letter of intent to play basketball at Grove City College just north of Pittsburg, PA. This past season Bailey helped lead the team to their first Blue Ridge Conference Championship appearance along with a State Final Four appearance. Over the course of her varsity career, she scored 561 points, grabbed 261 rebounds, accumulated 42 assists, 44 steals, and 15 blocks. We will not only miss Bailey's athletic talent on the court, but we will greatly miss her leadership on and off the floor. We look forward to watching you continue to strengthen your basketball skills as a Wolverine.

Boys Varsity LacrosseAt 10:00 am Friday, June 12th, Calvin Hurt signed his intent to play lacrosse at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Va. Over the past five seasons at the varsity level, Calvin has accrued over 100 career points with 82 goals and 35 assists. We will certainly miss Calvin's athletic talents on the field, but most of all, we will miss his genuine selfless approach to leadership in both Lacrosse and Soccer. We are all so excited, however, to follow his lacrosse talents rise to the collegiate level across town as a Wildcat.

Rockbridge County Tournament Summery
Girls Varsity VolleyballBelieve it or not our fall season is underway as the varsity volleyball team competed in the Rockbridge County Tourney this past Saturday. It was a good day for the Lady Gryphons winning 4 sets and dropping 4 sets. They played some large public schools that are the top volleyball programs in the VHSL with college-bound players who have been offered DI scholarships. One of the team that the Lady Gryphons faced on Saturday was intown rival LCA who they defeated 2-0 in their match-up. Boys Varsity Basketball at Reindeer Games, Richmond
Boys Varsity BasketballThis week, the Varsity Boys traveled to Richmond for the Reindeer Games Tournament. On Wednesday, they won 83-50 against Veritas School, moving them into the finals on Thursday afternoon. The boys took the championship 84-51 against The New Community School. Drew Bowman and Juette Reynolds were recognized as All-Tournament Team players and Jadon Walker was recognized as the Tournament MVP.

Dakota Witt Earns All-State Honors In The 100 Meter Dash
CoEd Varsity TrackOn Saturday, May 19, ten of New Covenants Track & Field athletes competed in the team’s first ever the Division II VISAA State Track & Field Championship. The meet was held in the rain at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond, Va. The team competed against 30 other schools from around the state. Senior Dakota Witt came into the meet with the second fastest time in both the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash. He also had qualified in the 400 meter dash and the Long Jump. Along with Dakota, senior Josh Ivins competed in the 800 meter run, 1600 meter run and was part of the 4x400 relay team. Senior Shaefer Seay competed in the Long Jump and was part of the 4x400 relay team. Sophomore Roman Seay also competed in the Long Jump and was a member of the 4x400 relay team. Girls Varsity VolleyballThe Lady Gryphons defeated Timberlake Christian in three straight sets at the VISAA State Sem finals at Norfolk Christian! They now move on to the Championship round which will be played tomorrow at 10:00 am Saturday. Girls Varsity VolleyballNew Covenant’s Varsity Women’s volleyball team has posted a “school best” with a season of 19 wins and only 1 loss. They lead the Blue Ridge Conference as the No 1 seed in the coming tournament season, and they are ranked No 2 in Division III by the VISAA (Virginia Independent School Athletic Association).
